1. Clearing cache : You can try clearing the cache of the gmail/google play. You can do it by going into settings -> Application manager -> All apps -> Google play store/Gmail. And then click on clear cache. If this does not work then try clearing the app data as well. If it still does not fix, then try the second option.
2. Check Date/ time : If they are still not working then you should check your mobile date/time. Your mobile time should be appropriate. It would be better if you check Automatic date and time or choose your time zone.
3. Check Gmail password : You can try checking your gmail password whether you have correctly typed it or not. You must be logged into your gmail account to open google play.
4. Factory reset : If no option is working then you can factory reset your phone. But make sure to backup your data first or else you will lose all your data. You can factory reset your phone by going into settings -> backup and reset -> factory reset -> reset device. Note : If your phone is rooted then you should better try option 5. You can search on net for how to root your phone or can download kingo android root on your phone and use it to root your phone. You can download Kingo Android Root from here.
5. Change hosts file data : Note - It will work only for rooted phones. If your phone is rooted then you can download Root Explorer from here and open it. After downloading Root Explorer, open it and then go to 'etc' folder. Then Find a file named 'hosts' and open it with any text editor. Then clear everything written in it and then type '127.0.0.1 localhost' without apostrophe and save changes. Then try opening the Google Play again. It is a very good option which fixed mine too.
